The transformation of a two-dimentional art into 3D

Whether it is for fences, doors, carpets, cloth or jewelry: Letters can be made out of a lot of materials or laser-cut into them.

  • Illustration of a city’s name Aachen, Charlesmagne’s hometown, derives from the Old Franconian word “ahha” meaning “water”. So I designed a network of intertwined flows re reflecting the way the underground springs mingle and merge.fl
  • Design for a tombstone, executed by a stonemason.
  • Design for a belt buckle “Die Wahrheit ist es gibt keine Wahrheit” (The truth is there is no truth)
  • Another design for a belt buckle „Was denkst du verändert die Welt? Was du denkst verändert die Welt!“ (What do you think changes the world? What you think changes the world!)
  • I am not a stonemason. But it is important for me to have some knowledge at least about the material I am making designs for. This name plate (slate) for my parents’ home was done in a stone cutting workshop.
  • Design of a haiku for a clover-like pendant in silver. Pendant and poem by the client.
  • Window sign for a new town cloister of the Catholic order of the Redemptorists in Gent, Belgium.
  • This client wanted the text around the ring to be legible. “Lebe das, was in dir ist.” (Live your inner self.)
  • When you add an i between the L and the e in “Leben” (life) it turns into “Lieben” (love) so the quote can be read as “part of my life/love”. And they wanted the letters ENS in “L(i)eben” to be legible as “C & S”, too.
  • A very elaborate commission for a signet ring. Besides of the symbols many terms about chivalry had to find a place on the outside and the inside of the ring.
